Eligibility:
Professionals and those amateurs with a handicap of 9.0 or less that were born on or before November 8, 1957.
Exempt Categories:
(1)Past Champions of the SPI Texas Senior Open, (2) Top 15 & Ties, 2006 Texas Senior Open Championship; (3) Top 10 & Ties, 2007 Northern Texas PGA Senior Championship; (4) Top 10 & Ties, 2007 Southern Texas PGA Senior Championship; (5) Top 5 & ties, 2007 New Mexico Senior Open; (6) Current Regular or Veteran Champions Tour Members that are Residents of the State of Texas; (7) Top 3 & Ties for each, Professionals and Amateurs 2007 NTPGA FINA Senior Associates Tour Championship; (8) A total of 6 spots from the 2007 STPGA Senior Associates Tour (9)The Section Senior Champion of any PGA Section. Qualifying:
Unless otherwise exempt, professionals and amateurs shall gain access to the South Padre Island Texas Senior Open via an 18 hole qualifying event. The number of qualifying spots will be determined pro-rata based on the total number of entries. Starting times will be available at www.stpga.com or by calling the site 48 hours in advance of your round.
Last Chance:
On Monday, November 5th, there will be a “Last Chance” qualifying at South Padre Island Golf Club, as an additional opportunity to make the starting field. It is open to any eligible player missing the entry deadline or to any unsuccessful qualifier. There will be a minimum of ten (10) spots available.
Championship Format:
54 hole stroke play with a cut to the low 50 and ties after 36 holes. All rounds will be played at the South Padre Island Golf Club.

To play the tropical tip of Texas, your destination is Valley International Airport in Harlingen, TX – just a quick flight from Houston, Austin, San Antonio or Dallas. South Padre Island and South Padre Island Golf Club are just a short drive from the airport with shuttles, rental cars and taxis available. South Padre Island Golf Club is Located off HWY 100 on FM 510 in Laguna Vista. Entry Fee:
All qualifiers shall pay a $175.00 entry fee, which will include green fees, cart and range ball fees at the qualifying site. Successful qualifiers shall pay an additional $225.00 entry fee. All Exempt players shall pay a $400.00 entry fee.
Entry Deadline:
All entry forms, for qualifiers and exempt players, shall be returned to the Southern Texas PGA office prior to 5:00pm, Tuesday, October 2, 2007.
Dress Code:
Proper Golf Attire is required. Shorts, non-collared shirts, jeans are not allowed.
Pro-Am:
A pro-am will be held at South Padre Island Golf Club on Wednesday, November 7th. The format will be one professional and four amateurs playing two best balls (one gross and one net). See Pro-Am entry form for more details. FIRST 20 Professionals that bring a team to the pro-am will receive an exemption into the Championship (a $400.00 entry fee is required).
